Over the years that “Northland Nature” was in publication, I received many letters of appreciation from readers of the column. The following is an abridged sample of one of those letters.
Dear Judson,
Some years ago, I wrote you a note telling you of my appreciation for your fine essays in the Daily Sun. I think it was in 1979.
I have just re-subscribed to Daily Sun, Sunday Addition. To my great joy I have the priviledge, and pleasure, of reading your exquisite essays. You are one of the finest writers extant.
I find your prose crystalline . . . the word I find most fitting. I’ve done sufficient exploring of the plateau to feel what you’re writing about . . . what wondrous country.
My great respect and appreciation for your art is now expressed, and I feel good for doing that.
Sincerely,
Jeanne Gloe
